In a National Electrical Power System, Power from Generating Stations is Stepped up to 230-750 KV.

The Transmission System transmits the Power to Distribution Substations. Distribution Substations step the Power down to 0.6-35 kv for Primary Distribution Lines. Distribution Transformers step down the Power Voltage from 0.6-35 KV to 220-240V. Secondary Distribution Lines Carry the Voltage from the Distribution Transformers to the End Users.

2. How Electrical is Currently Distributed in a Country

There are four types of Primary Distribution Systems
A. Radial Feeders
B. Parallel Feeders
C. Loop Distribution Feeders
D. Network Feeders

There are four types of Secondary Power Distribution Systems.

A. The Separate Service System.
B. The Raidal System
C. The Secondary-Bank System
D. The Secondary Network System.

There are 6 Major Processes or Steps involved in Distributing Electricity from a National Electrical Grid.

These are:

A. Power Generating Stations
B. Power Transmission Losses
C. Power Distribution Centers
D. State Distributions
E. Within State Distributions,
F. Timing of Electricity Distributions.

3. Factors to Consider in Designing National Electrical Distribution Systems

A. Load Density and the Spread

⦁ Areas with High Per Capita Consumption should employ Network Feeders System

⦁ Areas with Low Per Capita Consumption should employ Radial Feeders
B. Selection of Optimal Primary Distribution System to be Employed.
        C. Optimal Secondary Distribution System to be Employed
        D. Number, Size, and Placement of Distribution Stations
        E. Anticipated (Estimated-Future) Load Growth
        F. Total Cost of the System

4. Ways to Improve the Technical Performance of National Electrical Distribution Systems.

A. Incorporating Distributed Generating Stations in High Demand Regions or States
        B. Dynamic Allocation Distribution to States in Real Time as Opposed to Static Ones  which may not be accurate
        C. Timing of Electricity Disbursement
        D. Upgrade Primary Distribution Network Systems from Radial Feeders to Network Feeders:
        E. Reduce Secondary Distribution Losses

5. Ways to Improve the Economic Performance of National Electrical Distribution Systems

        A. Add number of customers served to it.
        B. Initiate Consumer Demand Response Programs
        C. Integration of New Renewable Energy Stations in terms of Cost.

COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
